Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a safe and effective medication.
The department is involved in taking lectures of general chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmaceutical / medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical analysis for the undergraduate students in the four year B.Pharm course.
Pharmacology is all about “finding out how drugs work”. It is concerned with the effects of drugs on living organisms and their components such as cells, membranes, organelles, enzymes and DNA.
Pharmacognosy deals with the study of crude drugs that includes plants, animals and marine sources. The subject has played a diverse role in the discovery, characterization, production and standardisation of crude drugs.
We congratulate Dr. Munira Momin, Principal, SVKM's BNCP for receiving her first Patent grant certificate from Indian patent office on her research work on , "A Curcumin hydrogel sponge for wound healing" Co-inventor: Kishor Butte, Suvarna Kurhade, Supriya Mhatre, Pallavi Khanekar. We express our gratitude to our SVKM management and the earlier management where the work had been done, Oriental Education society, Sanpada for their encouragement. We would also, like to express out heartfelt thanks to Mr. Sanjaykumar Patel, Patent Attorney and Founder at EXCELON IP firm.

The students of SVKM's BNCP bagged the 'Best College' trophy for the 8th time, surpassing all set expectations while they secured an all rounded high by winning "Best Cultural' trophy", "Best Public Health Office trophy", "Best World Health Day trophy", Second in “Best Sports and ”"Best Technical college", 2nd runner up trophy for the "Best Student" in the annual intercollegiate Pharma fest, Rx held by Indian Pharmaceutical Association-SF-MSB. We heartily congratulate all BNCP students for this achievement.
BNCP students won three awards at inter-University AVISHKAR Research Convention. Ms. Diksha Kapoor and Mr. Raj Khatri bagged the first prize in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry category- PG level. They also bagged the INNOVATION award. Ms. Mrunal Jadhav bagged the INNOVATION award presented by Nehru Science Centre and National Centre for Science Communicators in the Medicine and Pharmacy category- PG level.
Dr. Munira Momin, Principal, SVKM's Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy received IDMA-ACG SciTech "Best Research Paper Award 2019" for the research paper titled "Synergistic effect of Nigella oil and clotrimazole as ethosomal gel for improved treatment of fungal infection" published in "Indian Drugs", 56(04), 2019, 45-49.
SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy has received accolades at the 14th inter-collegiate/ Institute/ Department AVISHKAR Research Convention 2019-2020. We have bagged the prizes across 5 categories at UG/ PG & PhD levels.
Ms. Sanaya Shenoy, UG student of SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy received the SCHOTT-FIOLAX scholarship for the year 2019-20 on 13th December, 2019. She was one of 5 students selected in the undergraduate category for the same.
Dr. Tabassum Khan, Professor, BNCP received research grant of Rs. 34.97 lakh from Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India for a project titled “Synthesis, Development and Efficacy of Functional Hollow Gold Nanoparticles for Glioblastoma”.
Dr. Munira Momin presented research paper entitled “Curcumin and Cyclosporin Loaded Bioadhesive Pellets for Colon Targeting in Management of Inflammatory Bowl Disorder: Development, Optimisation, In Vitro and Pharmacodynamic Evaluation" at 2019 AAPS PharmSci 360, held on November 3-6, 2019 at San Antonio, Texas, USA
Dr. Munira Momin, Principal, SVKM's BNCP received prestigious Nehru-Fulbright international higher education administrators fellowship. She along with 14 members from various universities of India and various discipline, visited and interacted at 18 various higher education institutes at Chicago, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington and Virginia.
Dr. Sujata Sawarkar presented research paper entitled Management Of Periodontitis Using Essential Oil Based In-situ Gelling System at 2019 Controlled Release Society Annual Meeting & Exposition held on July 21-24, 2019, at the Palacio De Congresos Valencia, Valencia Spain.
Ms. Krushna Baxi, PG student of SVKM's Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy received "JB Mody Best Student Award" by Indian Drug Manufacturer's Association on 19th Jan 2019. We heartily congratulate her for this achievement.
BNCP Alumni, Ms Richa Thakur ( Batch 2012-13), has made a Guinness World Record in Largest Bindi making out of Blister packaging material during the event "Let’s wear Diabetes with Pride”, held at Bhubaneswar on 4th November 2017. Curently, she is working at Alkem Laboratories.

SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy celebrated "Annual Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony" on 19th February 2020. Mr. D.R. Gahane, Assistant Commissioner, FDA- Mumbai was Chief Guest for the function and Mr. Ranjit Barshikar, Quality Expert Consultant at MPP Geneva (United Nations) and a QbD/CGMP/Regulatory Consultant was invited as a guest of honour. The function included Faculty awards and students awards followed by cultural programs
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy organised Parishodhana-2020 on 15th February 2020. The main event of the programme was the Industry-defined problem (IDP) contest. The primary objective of this initiative was to bridge the gap between academic teaching and industry needs.
The resource person was Mr. Sunil Jog. The purpose of this workshop was to make the delegates aware about the applicability and utility of the designing of experiments (DOE) as a scientific tool for product development. The delegates had hands-on training on DOE using the software ‘Minitab’ and were engaged in solving case studies based on Formulation/Process and Analytical method development.
A self-defence workshop "I'MPOWER" for Girls students of the institute was organised by SVKM's Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy for on 14th December, 2019. A BNCP alumni and Sensei Ms. Anushree Surve with her team were invited as trainers for the program.
Syllabus discussion meeting for pharmaceutics subjects of Sem VII and Sem VIII hosted by SVKM' Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati college of Pharmacy, on behalf of University of Mumbai. Career guidance and Placement cell of the college in association with Geebee Educational Pvt.Ltd organized a guest lecture of the International Speaker, Dr. Stephen Amato, Faculty Director of Graduate Regulatory Affairs and Life Science, North Eastern University on 4th October 2018. The primary objective of the Guest lecture was to give the overview of North Eastern University Courses and admission procedure and guide them in their career path.
